Troubleshooting Disconnected Outlook or Working Offline Status
Like any email program, if you're not connected to the Internet, Outlook won't work at all. But there is a setting called Work Offline that can simulate a working Outlook, unfortunately if this is toggled the program won't try to connect to the internet even if you're fully hooked up. Work Offline allows Outlook to appear like it is online but you will only have access to mail that has already been saved.
Here are steps to follow to check if Work Offline is toggled:
- Make sure that you have a stable network connection.
- In your desktop, open the Outlook application.
- Check the bottom part of the Outlook window. If it says Working Offline or Disconnected, your Outlook is not connected to the internet.
- t the upper part of your Outlook window, Select the Send / Receive tab. Click on the Work Offline button to reconnect.
- Your emails should be updating by now. If not, kindly contact JGS IT Helpdesk for further assistance.
